Blast furnaces 4 and 6 of the former Vítkovice Ironworks are being transferred to new owners. The national cultural monument will now be managed by MUSEum+, the Industrial Museum in Ostrava, which is established by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. In the coming years, the blast furnaces will be transformed into a museum according to a design by architect Josef Pleskot.
MUSEum+, Industrial Museum in Ostrava, has completed a tender for the design documentation for the construction of its seat in blast furnaces 4 and 6 in the Lower Vítkovice area. The winner of the public tender is the "Association for MUSEum+," which consists of the Ostrava-based company Chválek Ateliér, s.r.o. as the lead partner and the Prague-based Energy Benefit Centre a.s.

The winning consortium succeeded in the public tender with a bid price of CZK 65,933,920 excluding VAT, while the bid of the second applicant was significantly higher.
"I am pleased that we can inform the public in a short time about another significant step on the path to the planned restoration of the industrial monuments of Blast Furnaces No. 4 and No. 6, which will be transformed into the seat of the Industrial Museum in Ostrava. The selection of the designer took place over the past four months. If everything goes according to the approved work schedule and there are no delays in the necessary administrative procedures, the design work should be completed in approximately one year," explains MUSEum+ director Naděžda Goryczková.
The designers will base their work on an architectural study by architect Josef Pleskot. Their task is to prepare the project documentation for the building permit and construction. The contract also includes project documentation for the remediation of the contaminated site and the interior design.
The project to transform the blast furnaces into a modern industrial museum is financed by the Just Transition Fund. MUSEum+, Industrial Museum in Ostrava, is one of the strategic projects of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
