8. 4. 2026

Exactly five years ago, on April 8, 2021, MUSEum+ was established by the Ministry of Culture.

Since then, we have come a long way. Our original vision of creating a museum dedicated to the themes of the present and the future has gradually taken on a concrete form, and through systematic work we have managed to achieve several key milestones. One of the most significant was the successful preparation of a project and securing funding for the restoration of Blast Furnaces No. 4 and 6 in Dolní Vítkovice.

Since 2025, we have been responsible for the management of these blast furnaces, which are listed as a national cultural monument. This brings not only great responsibility, but also a commitment to preserving their historical legacy. Our goal is to maintain their unique character while also giving them new life that reflects contemporary museological approaches as well as visitors’ expectations.

Currently, we are intensively working on the preparation of construction project documentation, which is a key step toward the planned transformation of the entire site. At the same time, we are developing the concept of the future permanent exhibition and visitor route that will guide visitors through the entire monument. We are also organizing various public events, producing oral history videos, collecting exhibits, and establishing partnerships with other institutions.

Our intention is to create a modern industrial museum that will offer an engaging and accessible presentation of industrial heritage, bring the history of the site closer to the general public, and become a vibrant cultural and educational center for the region.

We look forward to the years ahead, full of new challenges and opportunities.
